Selvatura Park: A Dreamy Walk Among the Treetops

family on hanging bridges at selvatura park monteverde

If you’re looking for an adventure that combines breathtaking nature, wildlife encounters, and a touch of magic, Selvatura Park in Monteverde is the place to be! We had an unforgettable time exploring everything this beautiful cloud forest had to offer, from the iconic hanging bridges to the charming sloths and fluttering butterflies. Check out our trip here!!

Hanging Bridges – 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Let’s start with the showstopper—the hanging bridges in the Monteverde cloud forest. Walking through the misty treetops, surrounded by lush greenery and the occasional call of a howler monkey, felt like stepping into another world. The views were absolutely stunning, with each bridge offering a different perspective of the forest. Some of them sway slightly as you walk across, which just adds to the thrill (don’t worry, they’re incredibly safe!). Whether you’re an avid birdwatcher or just someone who loves being in nature, this experience is worth every second in Selvatura Park at Monteverde.

Butterfly Garden – 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Stepping into the butterfly garden was like entering a fairytale. Dozens of vibrant butterflies fluttered all around us, landing on flowers, leaves, and even our hands! The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fun facts about the different species and their life cycles. It was mesmerizing to watch the blue morphos up close—the way their wings shimmer in the light is pure magic.

Sloth Sanctuary – 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Who doesn’t love sloths? This enclosure was one of our absolute favorite parts of the visit. The sanctuary is home to several rescued sloths, and seeing them up close was such a treat. Some were lazily munching on leaves, while others were (very slowly) making their way across branches. The guides did a fantastic job explaining their habits and the conservation efforts in place to protect them. It was a peaceful, heartwarming experience, and we could have stayed there all day just watching these adorable creatures do their thing. In the video below our 6 year old is informing everyone that sloths have prehensile hands and feet, bonus points if you know what that means!

Overall Experience – 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Selvatura Park is a must-visit for nature lovers, families, and anyone looking to soak in the beauty of Costa Rica’s cloud forest. From the thrilling heights of the hanging bridges to the delicate beauty of the butterfly garden and the pure joy of seeing sloths up close, every part of this park felt special. The staff was friendly, the trails were well-maintained, and the entire experience was just magical.

Would we go back? Absolutely. If you’re in Monteverde, don’t miss out on this gem!
