Banana Bread Bliss: The Perfect Recipe for Sweet, Moist Perfection!

Banana bread is the ultimate comeback story in the world of baking. Back in the 1930s, during the Great Depression, thrifty home cooks refused to let overripe bananas go to waste, so they mashed them up and tossed them into batter—thus, banana bread was born! But let’s be real: it was the invention of baking soda and baking powder that truly elevated this dense, fruity loaf from “questionable science experiment” to “grandma’s favorite treat.” Over the decades, banana bread has evolved, surviving every diet trend from low-fat to gluten-free, proving that no matter what, there’s always room for a loaf of sweet, banana-y goodness. And let’s not forget 2020—the year banana bread became the unofficial mascot of quarantine baking. If comfort had a smell, it would be fresh banana bread straight out of the oven! 🍌🍞

Ingredients

½ cup Butter

1 cup Sugar

2 Eggs

3 overripe bananas

2 tsp Baking Soda

2 cups Flour

½ tsp Salt

1/3 cup Milk

1 tsp Vanilla

optional: walnuts or chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

1. Cream softened butter and sugar together with hand or stand mixer.

2. add one banana at a time until it is mixed into the butter and sugar mixture. (This step allows you skip hand mashing the bananas, 1 less dirty dish.)

3. Then add the eggs and mix until combined.

4. In separate bowl combine all dry ingredients.

5. Alternatively add half your dry ingredients and milk with vanilla until just combined. Do not over mix you batter. It can create a dense and tough bread.

6. Now would be when you add your optional add ins! My kids cannot eat banana bread without chocolate chips and Grandma cannot have it without walnuts! I add about 1/2 cup of add ins per regular loaf.

7. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. I usually make 2 loaves out of this recipe or 8 mini loaves.

8. bake it 40-60 minutes depending on the size of your loaf until toothpick is inserted in middle comes out clean. Grandma always said your nose will tell you when it’s getting close! You’ll know what she means!

You can store it once it cools in a bag or an air tight container if it lasts that long. My kids usually have it gobbled down before then.

tip: store overripe bananas in the freezer, for when you’re in the mood for banana bread! Just allow them to thaw on the counter or quickly in the microwave if you’re in a hurry! You’ll never waste bananas again and your mouth with thank you!
