Red Cliffs Temple Open house – the house of the lord
For members of the Church of Jesus Christ, temples are the holiest places on earth, it is the house of the Lord. The phrases “Holiness to the Lord” and “The House of the Lord” are found on every temple.
“Each temple is a beacon of light and hope. The temple, the House of the Lord, stands as a symbol of our faith in life after death and as a stepping stone to eternal life for us and our families. The temple is a sacred and essential part of God’s plan for our happiness, now and forever.” – Russell M. Nelson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
We love to be in the temple. It is a place where the Spirit of God is manifest, it is a special place for us. If you would like to know more about temples click here.
Before a temple is dedicated anyone can walk through and see it. We recently went to the Red Cliffs temple open house (in St. George, UT) it has stunning stain glass windows, something I personally just love. The beauty of the temple is exquisite. The art-glass motifs include the florals and colors of the desert, such as the bearclaw poppy, which is the main motif inside. An endangered endemic species, the poppy has a small, white, four-petal flower with distinct leaves that are jagged and have three “claws” covered in small, soft hairs. I so very love the purple and coral colors found throughout this temple Click here to see official photos of both the interior and exterior of the temple. Why do we take our kids to these open houses? First, the temple is one of the most important things in our lives. Second, to feel the peace that permeates these sacred edifices. Third, to see the beauty of design and architecture.
The temple is a place of stillness, a place where you can leave the burdens of the world outside and enjoy the influence of God. There are temples being built all over the world, click here for a list of temples under construction throughout the world.
